Xinhua News Agency, Cairo, November 1 (Reporter Wu Danni and Yan Jing) – The fourth Pyramids International Skydiving Festival kicked off on November 1 at the Giza Pyramids Scenic Area near Cairo. Over 200 professional skydivers from more than 30 countries and regions including Egypt, Brazil, and Canada are participating in this event.
According to the organizers, this week-long festival will feature professional skydiving for the first four days. The final two days will be dedicated to beginners and enthusiasts who will jump under the guidance of certified coaches. Throughout the event, it is anticipated that there will be over a thousand jumps.
On-site reporters observed that skydivers were landing near Khafre Pyramid. As soon as their scheduled time began, they leapt from planes flying over the pyramids and filled the skies with their colorful parachutes, bringing a dynamic touch to these ancient monuments.
Yehia Jafari, an official handling media affairs for the organizers, mentioned that due to COVID-19 concerns, strict adherence to health protocols would be maintained throughout the festival to ensure everyone’s safety.
The Pyramids International Skydiving Festival is organized by the Egyptian Parachuting and Air Sports Federation with support from Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as its Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. This year’s theme is “Egypt Conveys a Message of Peace to the World,” aiming to boost Egypt’s tourism industry with a special focus on sports tourism.
