According to Australia Network, Australia’s FlightCentre travel agency recently revealed some of the most ridiculous questions they’ve received from Australian tourists this year, leaving their staff at a loss for words.
Most Australian travelers are well-informed about various destinations and typically conduct extensive research. However, some still approach travel agencies with “annoying” queries before booking their trips.
One traveler asked: “Jetstar Airways has flights from Melbourne to Hawaii. Can I get a ticket from Melbourne to New York at the same price? The planes all depart from Melbourne and head in the same direction.”
Reportedly, some tourists have asked staff how far the UK is from London while looking at maps in brochures or whether they need a passport to visit Tasmania. Despite being separated from mainland Australia, Tasmania is part of Australia, so no passport is needed for domestic travel.
Other travelers have attempted to circumvent baggage limits by asking if they could tie two suitcases together. Some even mentioned booking errors where they intended to go to Bali but ended up with tickets for Denpasar instead.
One of the funniest inquiries was whether passengers could bring French custard tarts on a flight to Sydney. The answer? Yes, as long as they eat them quickly.
